Projects In Knowledge®Mobile Apps Win Web Health AwardsSM
Accolades for MedImage Cases® Multiple Sclerosis and HCV Care & Guidance

Little Falls, New Jersey—June 8, 2012—Projects In Knowledge (PIK) received awards in the Winter/Spring 2012 Web Health Awards competition for two of its iPhone/iPad apps. PIK is a leading developer of cutting-edge digital and mobile information tools and point-of-care continuing medical education (CME/CE) programs for busy clinicians.

MedImage Cases Multiple Sclerosis earned a Merit Award in the category “Mobile Application: Medical Education (Small Mobile Device—iPhone).” Through a collection of peer-reviewed interactive patient cases, this widely used app explores the latest advances in MRI technologies and their practical application to patient care. Each case presents actual patient MRIs, insightful commentary and analysis by a renowned neurology expert, a scrolling transcript, and supplemental patient education materials.

HCV Care & Guidance: Practical Education and Resources received a Merit Award in the “Mobile Application: Medical Education (Large Mobile Device—iPad)” category. This clinical tool offers continually updated, peer-reviewed information on direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapies, the newest treatment option for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Designed for nurses, physician assistants, gastroenterologists, and infectious disease specialists, the app provides guidance on selecting treatment candidates, DAA agents’ stringent dosing and administration requirements, and optimal anti-HCV treatment strategies. A video of PIK’s live HCV symposium presented at a major hepatology conference is also included.

“We’re honored that our apps have been recognized for excellence amid a highly competitive field of entrants,” said Patty Peterson, CCMEP, Senior Vice President at PIK. “We strive to develop effective and relevant mobile information tools that help clinicians improve patient care, and it is extremely satisfying to receive validation of our efforts.”

Now in their 14th year, the Web Health Awards recognize high-quality digital health resources for consumers and health professionals. A panel of health technology experts judged all submissions based on content, format, success in reaching the targeted health audience, and overall quality. The winners were announced live via Twitter on June 4-6, 2012.
