Up to 70% of patients with MS will experience cognitive impairment at some point during the course of their disease. However, clinicians do not regularly assess patients’ cognitive functioning, in part because of the lack of an appropriate tool that can be utilized in routine clinical practice. In an attempt to fill this need, a panel of experts in MS cognition developed the Brief International Cognitive Assessment for Multiple Sclerosis (BICAMS), a short, practical battery of tests recently reported in Multiple Sclerosis Journal. Join John De Luca, PhD, as he discusses the use of the BICAMS assessment tool with Lauren B. Krupp, MD, one of the BICAMS developers.
