Advances in SCLC:
Challenging Patients, Difficult Decisions

Patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) generally respond well to first-line therapy, but most relapse. For these patients, oncologists now have several treatment options, including traditional and new chemotherapeutic agents such as topoisomerase I inhibitors, semisynthetic vinca alkaloids, antimetabolites, and taxanes. Innovative dosing and administration strategies, along with novel combinations of these agents are improving outcomes for many patients with relapsed SCLC.
