Angiogenesis Inhibitors in Oncology: Implications for Health System Pharmacies |
Angiogenesis Inhibitors in Oncology: Implications for Health System Pharmacies | |
| Dear Colleague, |
|
| Angiogenesis—the formation of new blood vessels—is a critical step in the growth and metastasis of solid tumors. Recently, several novel therapies have emerged that target specific molecules involved in this process. When used in combination with chemotherapy, these agents have improved response and survival in patients with a wide range of tumors, including non-small–cell lung cancer, breast cancer, metastatic colorectal cancer, and renal cell carcinoma. Two of these new agents—a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor and an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor—have received FDA approval, and several others are poised to enter the marketplace. As clinical data on these drugs accumulate, it becomes clear that angiogenesis inhibitors will be important components of many chemotherapy regimens and have a significant impact on the treatment of cancer. |
|
| We hope that you will be able to join us for Angiogenesis Inhibitors in Oncology: Implications for Health System Pharmacies, a CE on-demand webcast. Designed specifically for pharmacists by experts in the field, the symposium will focus on the mechanisms of action of these drugs, their safety and efficacy, and how best to incorporate them into treatment protocols. In light of the 2005 changes in Medicare reimbursement, we will also be discussing the requirements for reimbursement and the effects these new regulations have on planning treatment for oncology patients. We encourage you to view the webcast or order your free CD-ROM today. |

| Sincerely, | |
