TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed for infectious disease specialists who care for HIV-infected patients who are also infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV) and/or hepatitis C virus (HCV).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Based on the latest epidemiologic and diagnostic information, detect and monitor comorbid hepatitis/HIV to ensure early intervention and improve patient outcomes.

  • Assess status/stage of liver disease in HIV-coinfected patients to determine intervention treatment strategy, drawing on current information specific to hepatitis disease progression in HIV-coinfected patients.

  • Formulate customized treatment regimens for HIV patients coinfected with viral hepatitis for improved outcomes by assessing the patient's health status and integrating knowledge of antiviral and antiretroviral therapies.

  • Monitor therapeutic response and adverse effects of therapy in HIV-coinfected patients, and implement management strategies for adverse effects that improve patient outcomes.
