Issue 1:
Dr. O'Donnell describes a case involving an elderly male patient with multifocal carcinoma in situ of the bladder who has failed an intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) treatment program. Because of co-morbid conditions, the patient is at high risk for surgical complications. This case examines the treatment options, such as combination low-dose BCG plus interferon alfa, that are available for patients who require further treatment but are poor surgical candidates. |

Issue 2:
The case study in Issue 2 describes a young male patient with multifocal, recurrent, low- to intermediate-grade bladder cancer who has failed multiple courses of different therapies, including chemotherapy and BCG therapy. In the accompanying discussion, Dr. Gomella will outline the available treatment options for patients who are not at imminent risk for bladder cancer progression. |

Issue 3:
The case study in Issue 3 describes a patient with recurrent low-grade Ta bladder cancer that progresses to several papillary tumors. The patient develops significant cystitis with chemotherapy, and thus other therapies are needed. This case and the accompanying discussion by Dr. Cohen examine treatments, such as interferon alfa monotherapy, that are effective options for patients unable to tolerate first-line therapies. |

Issue 4:
Dr. Lamm discusses a case involving a treatment-naive patient with T1 grade 3 bladder cancer. He examines the choice between immediate radical surgery or local surgery followed by a BCG-containing treatment regimen or combination therapy with low-dose BCG plus interferon alfa. |
